What is a knife gate valve?

Image
Knife gate valves are designed primarily for on/off and isolation service in systems with high suspended solids content. Knife gate valves are particularly suitable for handling slurry, viscous, corrosive and abrasive media. These valves have minimal pressure drop in the fully open position, they are easy to start, they have a relatively low weight and are cost effective.   When are knife gate valves used? Knife gate valves are commonly used in mining , power plants and in the paper, chemical and food industries. Knife gate valves have the advantage of being very compact due to the linear movement of the closing flap (the plate that stops the flow of fluid in the closed position). The knife gate valve is primarily a globe valve, although it can also be used as a control valve when the flapper valve is in the partially open position. Knife gate valves can be used for fluids containing solid particles, such as waste water or sludge. Generally, knife gate valves are designed to seal on th

Which is better gate valve or ball valve?

Gate valves and ball valves are the most commonly used flow control valves on the market. They are commonly used to control the flow of liquids and gases. Although they are used in similar settings, there are some important differences between these two valves. We discuss the differences between gate and ball valves and how to choose between them. 1.Selection criteria The following criteria can be considered before choosing between a ball valve and a gate valve . Ports: Gate valves have 2 ports, while ball valves can have more than 2 ports. Flow rate: Gate valves can provide a greater flow rate than ball valves as they are usually available in larger diameters. Opening and closing speeds: Ball valves are more suitable for applications requiring faster opening and closing speeds or in emergency situations because of their quarter open/close operation. Gate valves require more than 360° of rotation and therefore operate slower than ball valves. Sealing: Compared to gate valves, ball valv

AWWA SS Knife Gate Valve

AWWA SS Knife Gate Valve Gate Valve   Specifications : Size: DN50-450 (2"-18") Pressure: 150LB Standard:  ASME B16.5 150LB, API609, API598 Knife gate valve  opening and closing part is the valve plate, the plate movement direction is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid. Knife gate valve can only be fully open and fully closed, can’t be used for adjusted and the throttle. The valve adopts bidirectional sealing design, and the installation direction and medium flow direction are not limited. The inside and outside of the valve bodyadopt powder epoxy resin electrostatic coating, which can effectively prevent corrosion and rust caused by contact between valve body and medium, and can be used in sewage system. For the installation of valves using in deep well and underground pipe, deep well connecting cap or lengthening rod mechanism can be provided according to customer requirements.
